Vintage WW2 A-2 jacket - 1940s leather - Perry Sportswear - 46” chest

An original WW2-era US Air Force type A-2 leather jacket by Perry Sportswear, dated 1942. Noted flaws - various scrapes, scuffs, dents, nicks and uneven colour to the leather throughout, surface wear at the collar fold, the waistband and cuff knits are not original to the jacket and have various hand repairs and damage throughout, glued repair to the back right cuff and forearm area, some damage to the cotton lining at the lower back - please see photos. Great condition otherwise, wearable condition with supple leather, solid seams, original Conmar zipper runs and fastens smoothly, United Carr press studs all work as they should, original hook and eye fastening at the collar, legible contract tag in the collar, cotton lining is otherwise in good condition, inspection stamp and stencil in white to the lining, two hand pockets, original hang loop intact, rare larger size.

This is an original 1942 jacket, not a reproduction.

Although the jacket is solid and has plenty of wearable life left in it, as with all older leather items, it should be stored flat with care (not on a hanger or hook) and treated regularly to keep it supple and in good condition. Wearing with shoulder bags is not recommended.
