Vintage 1950s British army middle parka - 1st pattern military jacket - extreme cold weather - 42” chest

A khaki green British army middle parka, dated 1951. Noted flaws - this jacket has been modified by a previous owner to remove the attached hood and add a collar, the donkey tail fastening has been removed and the back of the hem straightened to match the front, glue residue from a removed sticker or patch from the centre back shoulders, the rim of the lowermost button has cracked, missing one of the inner buttons for the crotch strap, it has likely been professionally taken in at the side seams for days to day use, as it measures far smaller than you’d expect for a size 4 military jacket - please see photos. Scarcely seen 1st pattern middle parka, dated the first year this jacket was introduced, wooden toggle at the zip, the zip appears to be the original, adajustable straps at the cuffs, the added collar appears to be a professional job and likely made from what was left of removing the donkey tail, so it matches the lining, drawstring waist, attached pile liner, two fold-over flap hand pockets, no chest pockets like the later versions, all modification work has been done very neatly and professionally, generally in very good condition considering its age and former use, suitable for everyone.
