A British brown cotton twill work coat, dating from the 1940s or early 1950s. Noted flaws - this has been cut down from a longer coat and hemmed, various ingrained marks throughout, surface wear and repairs at the centre front, surface wear at the cuff areas and the backs of both forearms, frayed hole at the left cuff - please see photos. Great condition otherwise, freshly laundered, thick cotton twill, single chest pocket, two hand pockets, straight through pockets, change buttons, single vent at the back, vibrant contrasting red collar, which would have denoted a particular job at the Solent Laundry on the Isle of Wight, which was an industrial laundry for cruise liners docking at Southampton, wear as a layer with other workwear pieces or for hobbies or crafts, suitable for everyone.
