A French work smock, dating from the late 1920s or early 1930s. Noted flaws - uneven, patchy, faded colour throughout, buttons have been removed from the placket, leaving pinprick holes, more modern red ribbon has been added to each sleeve, soem surface damage on top of the left shoulder, small seam split at the right armpit, various marks throughout, particularly along the lower back hem area - please see photos. Great condition otherwise, originally worn by French dockside workers, freshly laundered, great quality fabric with a lovely texture, no materials listed, but it feels like either linen or a cotton-linen mix, pop over, lovely pleating around the collar, open v neck, great colour and texture, suitable for everyone.
