A deep blue wool French bibbed shirt from the long-established Au Petit Matelot, dating from the 1930s. Noted flaws - some marking at the lower sleeves and cuff areas, various small hand repairs, wear and damage at the lower sleeves and cuff areas, hand repair at the front collar, some surface damage and hand repair at the back of the bib, several small areas of surface damage throughout, missing the original hook part of the hook and eye closure at the collar - please see photos. Excellent condition otherwise, great original label inside the collar, soft, supple, thick wool, two interior chest pockets, deep v neck with bib to the back, excellent quality, suitable for everyone.

Please allow enough room for taking this non-stretch item on and off when checking your measurements.

Au Petit Matelot was first established around the time of the French Revolution in 1790 and served the fisherfolk and sailors passing along the Seine. It is still a thriving business over 200 years later.
