A French sun-faded indigo shepherd’s parasol, dating from the 1920s or early 1930s. Noted flaws - chipped paint on the wooden handle, uneven faded colour throughout, various marks throughout, some fraying at the centre area - please see photos. Smooth opening action, brass fittings all work as they should, bamboo cane supports are all in good condition, oak handle, the cotton holds nice and taut when open, beautiful fading, very large parasol, would have originally been used by shepherds for shade in the fields. Measures L43”/110cm when closed. Approximately W49”/125cm when open.
