A indigo kapok buoyancy aid by Peter Robinson Ltd.,, dating from the early 1900s. Noted flaws - uneven faded colour throughout, particularly at the lower front left, some surface marking at the centre back, the buttons appear to have been moved by a previous owner and may not be the originals, ingrained marking throughout the lining - please see photos. Beautifully made, excellent quality, likely filled with kapok, four cinches at the back with original pronged buckles, two hand pockets, lovely natural indigo colour, great label, hand written name ‘T Wade’ inside, smaller size, Peter Robinson Ltd were an early proponent of British department store shopping and a young John Lewis worked for the company.
