A deep natural indigo blue French biaude, dating from the late 1800s or early 1900s. Noted flaws - uneven colour throughout, missing the left chest pocket button, some wear and loose stitching at the cuff areas, small area of surface wear below the right chest pocket - please see photos. Traditionally worn by farmers, shepherds and other rural professions over working clothes, this antique biaude would make a great loose-fitting modern-day shirt dress, or could be worn over trousers as done so traditionally. Fine but heavy indigo cotton, beautifully hand made with intricate pleating around the collar, back of the shoulders and cuffs, beautiful natural indigo colour, all other original buttons, two large D chest pockets, straight through side openings to access pockets in garments worn underneath, excellent quality, suitable for everyone. Actual colour is most like image 2.
