About us
Butterworth’s Vintage Company is a curated vintage shop owned by Colin and Holly Butterworth. We’re based in Totnes in the south west of the UK and we specialise in French and American workwear, outdoors gear and military items. With over 25 years experience in the vintage retail trade, we handpick all our items to ensure authenticity and quality.
Colin can be found either in the shop or out on the road and I am the human behind the online shop. Col has a wealth of experience in sourcing rare, collectible and wearable vintage clothing and creating beautiful retail spaces for everyone to feel welcome in. With over 6000 online sales on Etsy, I aim to provide an excellent online shopping experience.
We are both enthusiastic collectors of all things vintage and travel widely to make contact with wholesalers and individuals who can supply us with collectible vintage clothing.

Sizing
Measurements for each item are within the listing. Items are laid flat and measurements taken in inches. Please compare the measurements provided with a similar item of your own to ensure a good fit.
Perceptions of sizing such as 'small', 'medium' or 'large' can differ from person to person and between brands - please go by the measurements provided.
If you need any further, specific or clarification on measurements, please ask before purchasing and I'll be happy to help. I don't know whether an item will fit you or not - I've probably never met you! It is your responsibility to check that the measurements are right for you.
Please compare the measurements provided in the listing with a similar item of your own that fits you well; if they are the same or very similar, it should be a good fit for you. Lay the item flat; smoothed out flat, but not stretched.
The pit to pit measurement is taken under the armpits.
Shoulders are measured flat across the front from the outer shoulder seam to outer shoulder seam.
Arms are measured along the uppermost edge, from outer shoulder seam to cuff. Raglan sleeves, armpit to cuff.
The length is measured from the back of the collar seam down to the front hem.

Postage and tracking
I am based in Totnes in the South West of the UK. I send all free postage UK items with Royal Mail’s Tracked 48 service; you will find your tracking number in your shipping notification. You can pay at the checkout for an upgrade if you need a faster service. Please get in touch prior to purchase if you need something sending quickly and I can advise how best to get it to you!
I gladly send items worldwide, but unfortunately, for the time being, I’m unable to send items to European countries due to the GPSR regulations. I’m working on returning to selling to Europe as soon as possible! Customers are responsible for any customs fees; please don’t ask me to falsify customs forms.
I use mailing bags which are made from responsibly sourced sugar cane. They look and feel like plastic, but are fully recyclable and have a carbon neutral footprint. I try and keep packaging to a minimum to avoid excess weight and transport costs.
Do you accept returns?
Yes, of course; please contact me within 3 days of delivery if the item isn't right for you.
I do not refund the initial postage if the item is returned to me by the post office due to an incorrect or incomplete address or because an item wasn't collected by you from your local collections office; it is your responsibility to provide me with accurate, full and complete address and contact details so your parcel reaches you safely.
Please note that I will only refund the initial postage in instances where I have made a mistake with measurements.
I happily send items worldwide, but due to GPSR regulations, I can no longer send items to EU addresses.
If an item is returned to me because you don’t want to pay customs or duty, I will refund the cost of the ITEM ONLY, once it is returned to me; I will not refund the cost of the postage.
Please ensure that you have provided me with the correct contact details to make the customs process as smooth as possible. If I am charged additional return postage, taxes or fees (same for returns), I will deduct these from your original purchase amount - please be sure to check customs amounts on your country’s government website prior to purchase. I do not refund initial postage or provide return postage.
